Week 3 of 32!

We are now 3 weeks into our journey, 2 weeks in Vietnam. I am so happy to say that we are finally settling in and the kids are sleeping through the night again (yippee). The older twins have been in school for 1 week and they aren’t so happy, but I’m hoping they adjust and grow to like it. We’ve also gotten a routine down with the babies; we have a Vietnamese nanny that helps us in the mornings and we have our amazing Sara (babysitter we brought from Boston) who helps us in the afternoons. There are tons of kids play groups and play spaces, which is fantastic.

I’d like to highlight how amazing Vietnam is for kids, which also makes it amazing for parents.

  1. Kids Play Spaces: there is an abundance of kids play spaces; not just talking about your typical McDonalds play space or Chuck-e-Cheese. These are high end, clean, amazing places for kids of all ages. Why we don’t have them in the States boggles my mind! Our favorite so far has been Lilliput Kids Cafe. From entering where you take off your shoes and they take your childs temperature and clean their hands, to a beauty salon, equipped with real manicures, to a real-life indoor merry go round, a premium doll house, dress up and ball pit, this place is luxury even for adults. And what’s better, they have a premium cafe of healthy and delicious food. The cost is 100,000 dong per hour per kid, which is just under $5/hour. Well worth it in my book! 628c Xa lộ Hà Nội, An Phú, Quận 2, Hồ Chí Minh

  2. Play Spaces at Restaurants: So many restaurants here have dedicated play areas for children. Imagine a great restaurant, with great food and a totally separate and safe place for you kiddos to play. Our favorites are:

    • Chikita: 230 Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, Thảo Điền, District 02, Hồ Chí Minh 700000

    • Snap Cafe: 32 Trần Ngọc Diện, Thảo Điền, Quận 2, Hồ Chí Minh

    • Bama Kids: 41 Đường Số 41, Thảo Điền, Quận 2, Hồ Chí Minh

    • Jaspas: 15 Tống Hữu Định, Thảo Điền, Quận 2, Hồ Chí Minh 760000

  3. Play Groups: Almost every international pre-school has a free (or inexpensive) play group throughout the week. You just need to inquire.

  4. Abundance of extra curricular activities that are pretty cheap (about $8/class) including:

    • Kids Yoga

    • Swimming Lessons

    • Tennis Lessons

    • Ballet
